Marc Quinn is a British contemporary visual artist whose work includes sculpture, installation, and painting. Quinn explores "what it is to be human in the world today" through subjects including the body, genetics, identity, environment, and the media. His work has used materials that vary widely, from blood, bread and flowers, to marble and stainless steel. Quinn has been the subject of solo exhibitions at Sir John Soane's Museum, the Tate Gallery, National Portrait Gallery, Fondation Beyeler, Fondazione Prada, and South London Gallery. The artist was a notable member of the Young British Artists movement.
Quinn is internationally celebrated and was awarded the commission for the first edition of the Fourth Plinth in Trafalgar Square in 2004, for which he exhibited Alison Lapper Pregnant. Quinn's notorious frozen self-portrait series made of his own blood, Self (1991–present) was subject to a retrospective at Fondation Beyeler in 2009.
Quinn lives and works in London.
Quinn's early work was concerned with issues of corporeality, decay, and preservation.[3] He experimented with organic and degradable materials including bread, blood, lead, flowers and DNA producing sculpture and installation,[3] including Bread Sculptures (1988), Self (1991), Emotional Detox (1995), Garden (2000), and DNA Portrait of John Sulston (2001).[3] In the 2000s, he began to focus on the use of marble, bronze, and concrete. The artist explored the body and its extremes through the lens of classical and urban materials; works included The Complete Marbles (1999–2005), Alison Lapper Pregnant (2004), Evolution (2005–2009) and Planet (2008). Since 2010 he has worked with metals including stainless steel, aluminium, graffiti paints, seaside detritus, tapestry and painting, as seen in The History Paintings (2009–present) and The Toxic Sublime (2014–present).

Marc Quinn
Contemporary artist Marc Quinn was born in London in 1964 and is known as one of the founding figures of the 1990s British contemporary art movement, alongside artist Damien Hirst. His work includes sculpture, installation and painting and explores “what it is to be human in the world today” through subjects that include the body, genetics, identity, environment, and the media. Quinn graduated from Cambridge University in 1984 and had his first solo show in 1988 at the Jay Jopling/Otis Gallery in London. Quinn was selected for the Sydney Biennale in 1992, and was represented in Young British Artists II at the Saatchi Gallery in 1993, and Time Machine at the British Museum in 1994. He participated in Thinking Print at the Museum of Modern Art, New York in 1996 and Sensation at the Royal Academy, London in 1997. He had a solo show at the South London Gallery, Camberwell, London in 1998. Self (1991, Saatchi Collection, London) is a self-portrait head made from his own frozen blood, and was first exhibited in 1991 at the Jay Jopling/Grob Gallery and then at the Saatchi Gallery in 1992. At the Tate Gallery in 1995, Quinn showed Emotional Detox: The Seven Deadly Sins, a group of seven lead casts of parts of his body which were made using the lost wax method. Quinn prefers to use his body as a primary source because it is free from the associations of implied relationships: 'the self is what one knows best and least at the same time ... casting the body gives one an opportunity to "see" the self' (conversation with Sean Rainbird, Tate Gallery, 1995).

- Watercolour painting with glitter by Lélia Pissarro titled 'What is Happiness?'By Lelia PissarroLocated in London, GBWhat is Happiness? by Lélia Pissarro (b. 1963) Watercolour with pencil, pen, glitter and paper collage on paper 39 x 29 cm (15 ³/₈x 11 ³/ inches) Signed lower left, Lélia Pissarro and dated lower middle, 11.17.; inscribed upper right, what is happiness? This work is accompanied by a certificate of authenticity from the artist. Lélia Pissarro was born in Paris in 1963 and is the third and youngest child of the artist Hugues-Claude Pissarro and Katia Pissarro, an art dealer. From infancy until the age of eleven, she was entrusted into the care of her grandparents, Paulémile Pissarro and his wife, Yvonne, in Clécy, Normandy. Lélia’s Grandfather nurtured her interest in drawing and painting, teaching her the fundamental Impressionist and Post-Impressionist techniques he had learned from his father and his brothers. Lélia sold her first painting to Wally Findlay, a New York art dealer, when she was only four years of age. Lélia returned to Paris to live with her parents, and it was then that she had her first exhibition at the Salon de la Jeune Peinture. Later on, Lélia was also taught by her father Hugues-Claude and practised drawing on a daily basis. At fifteen, Lélia participated in an exhibition at the Luxembourg Museum in Paris. A year later, she enrolled at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Tours. With her parents dividing their time between France and California, Lélia found herself moving between Tours, Paris and San Francisco. Whilst in Paris, Lélia taught art at the Moria School and studied oil painting restoration...Category

- Pondering being Naked - Sexy Girl taking off Bikini - Female CartoonistLocated in Miami, FLThis work clearly has homosexual overtones which in the mid-'40s was as daring as showing nudity. I am not sure if this was the artist's intention but the salesgirl and the model look identical and she signs it twice Shermond. Added to this is a strobe light effect where the model's image is partly replicated giving the impression of 2 figures. She's lost in thought pondering the notion of removing the bows and seeing the consequences. Meanwhile, the sales girls ( perhaps her alta ego - perhaps an admirer ) eggs her on. Caption: "You can always remove the bows if you think they're too fussy." Cover cartoon for unknown publication - Signed "Shermund" twice in the lower right image, dated on verso, and captioned in graphite in the lower margin.
