About the Item

A charcoal and white chalk portrait of Lady Frances Calder (1795-1855), wife of Sir Henry Roddam Calder, 5th Baronet of Muirtown (1790-1868), and daughter of Edmond, Earl of Limerick. There are some touches of blue chalk to the subject's eyes and cap. Presented glazed in a cream mount and a distressed gilt-effect wooden frame. There is a plate attached to the lower edge of the frame inscribed with the name of the sitter. On wove.
