About the Item

Work on paper with a white wooden frame and glass. The total size with frame is 45,5 x 54,5 cm Stéphanie Guerzoni is a Swiss and Italian painter born April 15, 1887 in Vienna (Austria) and died March 27, 1970 in Geneva. In 1909, Stéphanie married the Geneva merchant Joseph Guerzoni, whose surname she kept as an artist's name. On October 11, 1914, she gave birth to a daughter, Denise. Encouraged by her husband, she enrolled at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Geneva; she followed the courses of Louis Dunki, then those given by Ferdinand Hodler. She was one of his favorite students and, following his death in 1918, she moved to his studio on rue du Grand-Bureau, in the Acacias district (Geneva)
