William Stout
William Stout, born in Salt Lake City, UT in 1949. At seventeen he won a full California State Scholarship to the Chouinard Art Institute (California Institute of the Arts) where he obtained his Bachelor's Degree. Stout began his professional career in 1968 with his cover and illustrations for the first four issues of the pulp magazine Coven 13. In 1971 he began to assist Russ Manning on the Tarzan of the Apes newspaper strips and Eisner Award-winning graphic novels. In 1972 Stout joined Harvey Kurtzman & Will Elder on "Little Annie Fanny" for Playboy. In 1973 Stout gained international notoriety in 1973-74 for his 45 "bootleg" record album covers. 1977 saw William Stout's first movie poster, WIZARDS. He ultimately worked on the advertising for over 120 films. In 1977 he became the first American contributor to Heavy Metal magazine and held his first one man show, The Prehistoric World of William Stout. In 1978 Stout began his career in the film industry. He has worked on over 45 feature films, including the Conan films, First Blood, Raiders of the Lost Ark, Walt Disney’s Dinosaur, Masters of the Universe, The Hitcher and Pan’s Labyrinth (Stout’s work contributed to the film winning two of its Oscars and won Stout a 2006 Chesley Award). Return of the Living Dead made Stout the youngest production designer in film history. Stout was the original designer of the Predator and the Men In Black alien “Edgar”. He also contributed to Christopher Nolan’s The Prestige and Frank Darabont’s Stephen King’s The Mist.
Stout's dinosaur illustrations and murals have appeared in many publications. In 1981 Bantam Books published Stout's bestselling landmark masterwork THE DINOSAURS-A Fantastic New View of a Lost Era, followed by The Little Blue Brontosaurus (the1984 Children's Choice Award recipient; adapted as The Land Before Time animated feature) and Ray Bradbury's Dinosaur Tales. Eleven Stout paintings were selected for inclusion in the traveling exhibition “Dinosaurs Past and Present” seen by over two million visitors at Smithsonian alone. Michael Crichton acknowledged Stout's work as inspiration for his book Jurassic Park. In 1993, Universal Cartoon Studios chose Stout to design a prime time animated series of Jurassic Park. Stout’s prehistoric paintings and murals are on permanent display at the Houston Museum of Natural Science, Walt Disney’s Animal Kingdom, the San Diego Natural History Museum, the San Diego Zoo, the Orton Geological Museum, the Museum of the Rockies, the North Carolina Museum of Natural Science and the Lagoon Discovery Center (Carlsbad, CA).
Stout worked for Walt Disney Imagineering from 1986 to 1989 as a conceptual designer, writer and producer for expansions to all their properties. He subsequently continued themed entertainment design for Disney, Universal and Landmark Entertainment Group. In 1995, Steven Spielberg made Stout Senior Concept Designer for GameWorks, a joint gaming arcade project between DreamWorks SKG, Universal and Sega. Since then Stout participated in designing themed entertainment centers such as Michael Jackson’s NeverLand, the Kansas City’s Wonderful World of Oz theme park as well as a Toronto Dinotopia.

- Koi Pond Conclave - Japanese Style Gyotaku Painting on Archival Kraft PaperBy Jeff ConroyLocated in Chicago, ILIn Japan they are known as Nishikigoi, or living jewels. These brilliantly colored varieties of the Amur carp have been selectively bred by family owned fisheries for generations. When I began this series of Gyotaku (Japanese fish printing) I studied the many varieties of Koi, each with their own unique colors and patterns. My particular favorites are the Tanchos which can be identified by the distinct red spot on their heads. To create these pieces I print common carp I catch myself with sumi ink using traditional techniques used by Japanese fisherman...Category

- Gucci Ray - Sumi Ink on Mulberry Paper, Original Artwork, Gyotaku StyleBy Jeff ConroyLocated in Chicago, ILDesigners have an wide reach through out the world but have yet to reach the depths of the ocean. Artist Jeff Conroy has created this Gyotaku print of large ray entitled simply "Gucci Ray" to fill that void. To achieve this remarkable painting, the artist applies sumi ink to a sting ray he caught himself on Florida's Gulf Coast, then "prints" it onto Marbled Mulberry paper - a soft, handmade paper. He then embellishes the details with watercolor to give extraordinary dimension and interest to its overall aesthetic. The artwork is unframed. Please contact the gallery for framing options. Jeff Conroy Gucci Ray sumi ink and watercolor on mulberry paper 37h x 25w in 93.98h x 63.50w cm JEC088 Gyotaku - A Japanese word translated from "gyo" meaning fish and "taku" meaning stone impression and is believed to get its inspiration from Chinese stone rubbings of calligraphy, which then gave rise to printing . This tradition dates back to the mid-1800s and was used by fishermen to record their catches, but has also become an art form of its own. Prints were made using Sumi ink and Washi paper. It is rumored that Samurai would settle fishing competitions using Gyotaku prints. This original form of Gyotaku is still utilized today, and can be seen hanging in fish and tackle shops all...Category

- Frederick Elmiger (USA, 1890-1975) Portrait of Henry Bergh (Founder A.S.P.C.A.)Located in Meinisberg, CHFrederick Elmiger (American, 1890-1975) Henry Bergh – The Founder of the A.S.P.C.A. • Watercolour, gouache, Indian ink and possibly some oil paint on heavy paper • Sheet measures, ca. 44.5 x 57.5 • Signed and monogrammed Worldwide shipping for this object is complimentary - There are no additional charges for handling & delivery. The image depicts a street scene in 19th century New York in which Henry Bergh rebukes a carter, who is brutalizing his starving horse and making it drag the overloaded wagon. The here depicted Henry Bergh was the son of a German ship builder in New York and with the aid of his small private income, he spent most of his life fighting for laws protecting animals. Over fierce opposition and ridicule he obtained a charter in 1867 from State of New York forming the A.S.P.C.A. (American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals) and in 1875 a similar one covering the prevention of cruelty to children. By 1893 all states had adopted laws based on his original statutes. And the artist, who painted this dramatic scene was Frederick Elmiger (1890-1975), an American illustrator. He frequently produced series - often with historical themes - for the Donald...Category
