About the Item
Artist Comments
Part of artist Yelitza Diaz's Couple series. In this iteration, she expresses a peaceful and content existence between two people. "These two small figures sit together as a couple, waiting in harmony, happiness, and love," says Yelitza. Each Small Being is made of resin and painted to look like bronze. They are then placed on a solid wood panel, which has been painted.
About the Artist
Born in Venezuela, Yelitza Diaz;s life has been wrapped in the arts since childhood. She founded a gallery with her husband, who is also an artist, and was successful for many years until the crime and corruption in the local government became unbearable. They now live in South Carolina, where she makes art that explores human existentialism and the political and social developments of her native country. Her sculptures are made with ceramic techniques using a minimalist contemporary style. Fun fact: Yelitza designed the town seal for her native Municipio Falc;n in Venezuela.

- Dream Time, Original PaintingBy Darlene McElroyLocated in San Francisco, CA
Artist Comments
Heavily collaged piece featuring handwritten notes, book pages, flowers and delicately crossed hands. Darlene says the artwork is centered around the concept of renewing our soul. "We all need quiet time where we can think and dream, whether it is just enjoying nature, reading a book or thinking of special people in our life."About the Artist
Darlene McElroy sees creating art as similar to reading Turkish coffee grounds. A story becomes revealed as one looks at the surface, texture and color. Her works use a variety of materials ranging from acrylic paints to photo transfers and collage. She currently lives in New Mexico and has been greatly influenced by the work of Robert Rauschenberg. She encourages viewers to search for their narrative interpretation when viewing a work.Words that describe this painting: expressionism, abstract, floral, botanical, mystical, flowers, flora, non-representational, vintage, mixed media artwork, red

- Large Animal Wall Sculpture: 'Wormhole'By Gin StoneLocated in New York, NY'I am a multidisciplinary artist with a focus on ecofeminism using fiber and mixed media constructions. My materials include hand-dyed commercially fished line and ghost gear, recycled and antique textiles, fabric printed with cyanotype emulsions and found objects. I change the existing surface of recognizable animals by creating a veneer of unexpected color and imagery. This forces the viewer to consider the shape more carefully by visually exploring its new topography. The creation process can be likened to painting with fiber (that has been tinted with hand-mixed dyes) on a three-dimensional canvas. Intense work is spent creating the eyes and ears to convey the emotion of each animal. I look to the work of Joan Mitchell and The Quilters of Gee’s Bend as inspiration for pattern and color, as well as charts, iconography, and satellite imaging.' -Gin Stone...Category

- Shopping Cart: 'The Great Resignation Baggage Cart, Emotional Baggage Cart'By Theda SandifordLocated in New York, NY'My Emotional Baggage Carts are vessels to dispose of racial trauma. The act of making, weaves the sting of macro and microaggressions into the cart, freeing me from these constraints. Each recovered shopping cart is unique, but they all are woven with upcycled materials like rope, paracord, grocery bags, rope lights, beads, fabric, and bottle caps. The cart is with a protective zip tie blanket to trap trauma and prevent its escape. For me, my Emotional Baggage Carts are a release, for you, they are an opportunity to look within and recognize any emotional baggage you, yourself may be carrying and release it.'
