Alix Palo
Colorado Poppies, Original Painting

2024

About the Item

Artist Comments
Poppies sway with the wind, creating a motion blur that adds a dynamic touch to the scene. Vibrant red tones sharply contrast with rich greens, highlighting the expressive beauty of the flowers. Artist Alix Palo draws inspiration from a scenic walk in the mountains of Colorado.

About the Artist
Artist Alix Palo captures nature's tranquility and dramatic allure in her effusive floral works. She studied Art History, and after completing botanical art and illustration programs, she shifted from a realistic style to a non-representational and expressive approach. Directional lines and mark-making provide impact and emphasize a focal point in each of her pieces. "My use of color and light helps to achieve a painting's mood and I hope the viewer experiences this," says Alix. As a mom of six, she found herself wanting to carve out her interests—and encouraging her children to reach their goals has fueled her to achieve her own. Today, she works on the ground floor of her home, always surrounded by her dogs and occasionally cluttered with supplies. When she is not painting, Alix enjoys playing and coaching pickleball, cooking delicious dishes, and traveling to discover new sceneries and art.

  • Blowing in the Wind, Original Painting
    By Jodi Dann
    Located in San Francisco, CA

    Artist Comments
Artist Jodi Dann illustrates a diverse array of dahlias set on decorative vases. "Where I live, there can be lots of wind but dahlia roots seem to hold on tight with their strength," shares Jodi. She depicts her favorite flower accentuating their flower heads of various sizes. The complementing peach, purple, wine, and mauve tones evoke a meditative harmony.

    About the Artist
In 1999, Jodi Dann seized the opportunity to become a full-time painter. Today, her paintings read like hazy memories of imagined faraway places. The compositions are abstract, but possess strong architectural elements, recalling bridges, arches, and doorways. Each piece retains an overall sense of place without prescribing a location, allowing the viewer to form an individualized connection with the work. Jodi paints from her cozy studio on her property in Oregon while listening to a variety of music on Pandora. She doesn’t feel the need to strive for perfection in her work. “Life isn’t perfect,” says Jodi. “Why force a painting to be?”
