Two boats sit atop a still ocean tied onto a dock. Soft ripples on the water's surface reflect corrugated patterns. While on vacation in Greece, artist Brian McCarty found many scenes that he knew he had to paint later, and this scene at dusk was one of them.

To create his style of impressionism, he juxtaposes shapes and colors to evoke motion and changing light, while still conveying recognizable forms.
