With a real sense of depth and energy, this painting evokes ideas of worlds within worlds. Overlapping layers of marks, patterns and transparent glazes create a fascinating surface to be enjoyed close up, while the sense of depth and contrast gives the composition impact from a distance. "Where There's a Will" is so named as creating it was a challenge! There were elements in the layers that I loved, but the final composition was eluding me. I kept telling myself that "where there's a will there's a way" and kept going adding and subtracting to the canvas until finally the perfect composition emerged. This painting is a great reminder to me of the importance of persevering until you get the desired result. This painting comes framed in a simple contemporary natural wood tray frame, ready to hang.

Alison is a British contemporary abstract artist and painter, based in Somerset, England. With a degree in textile design, and many years of art making behind her, paintings are developed with a primary focus on colour, pattern and texture. She loves to explore ideas around visual contrasts and creates work that makes a bold visual statement from a distance, but also has richly layered surfaces full of depth and interest close to. Work is made intuitively, drawing on decades of visual memory. Inspiration can be a mood or feeling, a memory, a place, even a symbol or the power of a word or a phrase. This may sometimes be incorporated in the finished piece in the form of visible or abstracted text.

- Landscapes of the Soul and of the Mind XIV , Abstract Expressionist LandscapeLocated in Doylestown, PA"Landscapes of the Soul and of the Mind XIV " is a 40 x 40 inches, original, abstract landscape by American master colorist painter Al Lachman. The artwork is a gallery wrapped canvas, signed "Lachman" in the lower left. It is part of the artist's series "Landscapes of the Soul and of the Mind". The artist puts his thumb upon the pulse of life and records it. In that mystical beat lies the unknown, and he would but make it known. Being both, innovator and spectator, he exists as an intrinsic part of that rhythm. Each painting begins with a premise, and I rarely use the same one twice. It is based on what I see and what I am feeling at that moment. I do not think that painting is about technique. It is about a particular perception of the world around us. The premise creates the periphery of my intent. It is a limitation that gives birth to the creative forces within. - Al Lachman Born in 1936 in the Bronx, NY, Alan Lachman...Category

- Landscapes of the Soul and of the Mind XIX , Abstract Expressionist LandscapeLocated in Doylestown, PA"Landscapes of the Soul and of the Mind XIX " is a 44 x 56 inches, original, abstract landscape by American master colorist painter Al Lachman. The artwork is a gallery wrapped canvas, signed "Lachman" in the lower center. I try to approach each painting with a minimum of predigested information. I look at the world with the natural curiosity of a child, always looking for unique qualities that each new moment brings. Talent, I believe, is found in the ability to take risks, and with that in mind, I am continually willing to risk it all every time I paint. The most exciting paintings, for me, are the ones that balance a bold fresh approach with the sensitive and subtle workings of the heart and mind. - Al Lachman Born in 1936 in the Bronx, NY, Alan Lachman...Category
