About the Item
This mixed media painting features hues of black, grey and green.
Atlanta-based artist Angela Carter creates abstract collage works that celebrate her personal history, Caribbean heritage and the African Diaspora. Incorporating a range of diverse materials into each piece, she explores the cross-layers of her cultural legacy and the endless play between light and dark. She is interested in the idea of building and rebuilding. Placing different shapes over each other repeatedly in different locations. This allows for the original shape to be a subtle imprint. In her most recent body of work, “Happy Day,” Angela explores Indigo dye and its history in the American South. She uses the historical context of Indigo, coined “Blue Gold,” and reimagines it through a series of mixed media paintings. Born in Suriname and raised in the Netherlands, Angela moved to Atlanta, to study Art Education and Mass Communications with a focus on Film. Angela is currently working towards her Masters in Art Education from Georgia State University.

- Golden Lore IV - contemporary mixed media collage gold abstractBy Russell FramptonLocated in London, GBThis recent body of work is informed by my continuing research into the physical and metaphorical nature of archaeological artefacts and votive objects, allied to the referencing of the symbolic forms and materiality of alchemy. Central to this practical investigation has been the use of ‘gold’, and the qualities that the material, with its obvious chromatic and symbolic values, seems to possess. This has driven both the conceptual and pragmatic concerns within the evolution of this work. Gold is an alluring and complex symbol of many, often conflicting meanings, avarice, greed, wealth but also of purity and celebration, and has been used as the adornment of spiritual and religious iconography as a devotional act for millennia. The titles refer to connections I have made with the forms themselves, often when making a painting a word will emerge which acts as a form of poetic catalyst. ‘Parsival’ or Percivale/Peredur was the knight questing for the holy grail...Category

- C1120 Unstretched Abstract Light Gree Blue White Quotes Words DictionaryBy Zach TouchonLocated in Beverly Hills, CAThis work is a part of the "Chaos and Control Theory" Series - the artist's signature series. It was created with the pages from an Oxford Dictionary of Quotations. This technique gives a special character to the work - you can play with it by asking questions, pointing to any part of the work, and you will get a meaningful phrase or a word. The work has blue and white colors. Great for the modern interior. The work is unstretched and will be shipped in a roll. -- "Chaos and Control Theory" Series is about depth and space. It’s about information overload, and what information looks like when you take out a meaning. I create lots of layers, using found materials and printed materials. I do an abstract expressionism painting on a surface first before I apply the printed and found materials. And then I begin to organize the surface, ultimately thinking about balance and flow and how the piece is going to contribute to the space it is going to be hanging in. -- Zach Touchon is an American contemporary abstract expressionist artist and muralist based in Los Angeles, CA. Besides that, Touchon is also an actor, a singer, a screenwriter, and a writer. Zach Touchon is an artist in the second generation. By rethinking abstract expressionism ideas, using different media he creates large abstract artwork along with small collages, huge...Category
