About the Item

This is an abstract oil on canvas painting that has great appeal due to its selection of colors, composition, and size. The top of the painting shows light colors associated with the sky -- blues, greys, and yellows-- and the bottom displays brilliant reds and pinks. This balanced composition brings a pleasing use of the pictorial space in conjunction with the color blocks. The dimension of the painting is an excellent one to bring notice to it while remaining modest in size. This piece was provided by the artist to another artist who held it in storage until now. The painting has been signed in the back. Chris Protas is an American artist working in the Midwest after studying (The New York School in Greenwich Village) and painting in New York City. He opened a gallery with another NYC artist in Michigan, but continues his own work with exhibitions and projects. Protas feels comfortable painting in a variety of styles.
