Gail Titus
Precipice- Large Textural Original Black and White Gestural Abstraction Painting

2017

About the Item

Arizona artist Gail Titus paints vibrant, abstract compositions in acrylic on canvas with a focus on textures, colors, and abstract color(-field) compositions. The visual element of her multi-dimensional textures defines the intricate surface quality of her artwork and the physical and emotional energy of the artist and her subject. This large, one-of-a-kind dynamic and textural painting is 30 inches tall by 96 inches wide. It consists of two panels and is wired and ready to hang. The sides of this highly textural black, white, and gray artwork are painted as a continuation of the front. It does not require framing. It is signed and titled by the artist on the back. Free local Los Angeles area delivery. Affordable US and worldwide shipping. A certificate of authenticity is included. After working as a ceramic artist for more than twenty years creating wall sculptures and commissioned installation work, Gail Titus has been focusing more extensively on pursuing her long-time interest in abstract painting. Her detailed studies of abstract painting techniques lead Gail Titus to develop works on canvas using acrylic paint and a carefully chosen mix of unconventional tools and techniques. The primary focus has been on surface development and exploring textures. The geometric planes of her artworks and the texture in her movements are boldly hatched in contours of energetic brushstrokes, developing new expressive abstractions in color and texture. She sends the viewer on a journey of discovery across the painting surface to continually re-discover the depth of the colors, structures, and textures. She resides in Tucson, AZ, and La Jolla, CA. Her artworks have been acquired by corporations and private collectors throughout the United States, Canada and Australia. They have been featured on hit TV shows such as "The Catch" on ABC. Provenance Steve Chase Design, Palm Springs, CA Ronnie Landfield was born in the Bronx, NY on January 9, 1947 - the same day as his older brother. As a teenager, he was encouraged to pursue a career as an artist, subsequently creating his first real paintings around the age of 14. He was particularly influenced by a Life magazine article from 1961 on the Abstract Expressionists, most notably: Jackson Pollock, Willem de Kooning, Adolph Gottlieb, Hans Hofmann, Mark Rothko, Clyfford Still, Robert Motherwell and Franz Kline. After stints at the Art Students League, the Kansas City Art Institute, the San Francisco Art Institute, and the University of California at Berkeley, Landfield’s professional career as a painter began in New York in 1965. The following year, after completing a major series of hard-edge border paintings, success as a painter began to materialize. The famous architect and collector Philip Johnson and the collector Robert Scull each acquired large paintings works, as did the Sheldon Memorial Museum in Lincoln, Nebraska. In 1967, Landfield was invited to participate in the Whitney Annual at the end of the year. His work attracted considerable attention, and he was invited to participate in important group exhibitions at the Bykert, Bianchini, and Park Place Galleries in New York. Landfield joined the David Whitney...
