About the Item
This 37" x 49" large horizontal framed oil on canvas painting by Marc Barker features muted multi-colors of grey, blue, green, copper and off-white with layered intricate shapes and patterns. Pareidolia is the tendency to perceive a specific, often meaningful image in a random or ambiguous visual pattern, or the human ability to see shapes or make pictures out of randomness. The painting is framed in a floating black wooden frame.
"My education was in mathematics, limnology and art. I revere nature and question my place within it, the Mystery, prismatic sunsets and sensuous memories exploring, surveying and photographing caves with their invented light, solitude, and deafening silence. I transform these experiences into psychologically contemplative subjects including shadow figures, asterisms, cloudscapes, political mixed media and abstractions." -- Marc Barker
Marc Barker has over 35 years experience in the arts and over 25 years experience teaching and producing in the field of interactive media. He managed Paseo Intaglio Printers in the late 1980s and continued into the 90s with editioning and contract printing for local and national artists. He was honored to be selected as 2004 Festival of the Arts juror for the Arts Council of Oklahoma City. He helped create the Artful Experience committee for the Arts Council of Oklahoma City and chaired that committee for its first two years teaching principles of printmaking to festival goers through exhibits and demonstrations. He was the guest juror for the 2009 Paseo Festival of the Arts, and in 2019 for the Goddard Center 47th Annual Competition. Marc was the Allied Artist representing OVAC (Oklahoma Visual Arts Coalition), had an exhibit in the State Capitol of Oklahoma’s East Gallery in 2008, and a painting chosen for the Oklahoma State Art Collection at the State Capitol.

- 'Solarium', by Anthony Dyke, Oil on Canvas Painting, 2022Located in Oklahoma City, OKAnthony Dyke's "Solarium," a 74 x 48 x 1.25 inch oil on canvas painting, references solar flares in its use of shape and color. The bright values of yellows, reds and blues surround a large red circular shape. The bright color wavelengths give this painting a vibrational energy. Anthony Dyke was born in Norwich, Vermont and attended The School of the Museum of Fine Arts at Tufts University earning a BFA and MFA in painting. As an artist and arts educator, he relocated from New York City to his down¬town Oklahoma City studio, working there for two decades before returning to Boston in 2020. Coming from VERMONT where the seasons are distinctly different from one another. My shift from a pastoral setting to an urban environment set up a dichotomy in my work, both visual and emotional. I have an extensive education in painting, photography, graphic design and figure sculpture. These mediums intersect in my work through many years of creating artworks and currently speak to my interest in abstract painting. During my senior year in the BFA Program at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, my large painting “Natole” was chosen by Frank Stella (the juror) into the highly competitive and prestigious Dana Pond...Category

- 'Cabana', by Anthony Dyke, Oil on Canvas Painting, 2016Located in Oklahoma City, OK"Cabana", by Anthony Dyke is a 36" x 48" x 1.5" oil on canvas painting. Its flag-like imagery is influenced by Jasper Johns' flag paintings. The layered and scraped surface in tropical blues, greens, whites and yellow, and its horizontal banding depicts a flag-like presence.
