About the Item
Due to a physical ailment (a large benign tumor in her right hand) Sarah’s creative process is unique. She works primarily with acrylic paint, alcohol ink, pen, synthetic film and canvas. All works are created on the floor and without use of paintbrushes, easels, or hand-dryers. Sarah is self-taught and has learned how to work alongside her limitations which has opened up infinite artistic expression and experimentation. She flows or drops her mediums onto canvas for the base of her works, and then intuitively applies line-art with pen or an acrylic refillable pen, thereafter.
Sarah prefers blending ink with acrylic because it’s an ever unfolding surprise. The mediums compliment each other beautifully and have their own life upon hitting the surface. The flow takes its own shape just as much as the line-art. She finds a lot of joy when there is a chemical reaction after the alcohol ink, pen and acrylic meet.

Sarah Larsen is an American painter (b. April 20th, 1984) born and raised in Grand Island, Nebraska. Her art studios are currently based in Grand Island, NE and Baltimore, MD. She
opened her 2nd art studio in June of 2022 to be centrally located on the east coast, and close to
the water. Sarah’s line-artwork is organic, sinewy, and inspired by nature and love. Sarah has exhibited her works nationally at galleries in Omaha, NE; Denver, CO; Baltimore, MD; Houston, TX; Dallas, TX; Martha’s Vineyard, MA; NYC, NY. Her artwork ‘Life’ was selected
by the Curator of Contemporary Art at the Delaware Art Museum for the 2021 National Annual
Juried Exhibition at Delaplaine Arts Center in Frederick, Maryland. She was published in the 2021 March CandyFloss, “Feel Good Issue”; 2022 Spring Art Seen; 2022 August CanvasRebel, “Meet Sarah Larsen”; the 2023 Elevated Art Magazine Spring
Issue,“Artist Sarah Larsen: Creating Love with Lines”; and was interviewed by Ebby Magazine,
Issue 7 Jordin Sparks, on pages 46-47 “Sarah Larsen.” Sarah has been interviewed by Denver’s Tenetpodcast Episode #102 in November, 2021. She exhibited at The Other Art Fair in Dallas October 2022; and Miami Art Week at Spectrum
Miami 2022 where she won their 2022 Award for Best Booth Design. She is contracted with
Grafix Arts Plastics Inc. and her artwork, “Deception,” is featured on their new Grey Dura-Bright
product line packaging. Her work was selected for the 2023 MvVO ART SHOW/Clio Awards.
She also entered into a collaboration with Ranger Ink. "I create love with lines. In my body of work each piece is intricate and variable whether that is with medium, size or color scheme; my works are distinguishably mine. To me, lines have always made sense as they’re soothing, organic, sinewy and have a romantic movement about them that keeps me engaged during each creative endeavor. The journey of creation is what keeps me yearning for more as each piece unfolds in its own way and is a complete surprise; a beautiful intuitively guided experience. My works are created with acrylic paint and alcohol ink that are often mixed. I do not use paintbrushes. On loose canvas, I use squeegees and paint scrapers to create the base. On stretched canvas and small works, the alcohol ink intuitively flows on both to create the base. After the base is complete, I use refillable acrylic pens and ink to create the line-art. The works are ready to share love when I get an intuitive sense that it is complete."

- She Thinks Too MuchLocated in Dallas, TXThe inspiration for the palette of “ She Thinks Too Much” was inspired by “Jazz”, my favorite painting of my first exhibition at Patrick Jones Gallery . “She Thinks Too Much” radiates a sense of energy & anxiety with so much color and movement with the fast long brush strokes (hence the title) . The work leads the viewer left to their own interpretation to what I was thinking as I painted . Is it a colorful map or perhaps some sort of alien blueprint? Busy but with depth. This piece is an original work derived from my own imagination, all reproduction rights are retained by Brad Fuller...Category
