About the Item
Artist Comments
Artist Alana Clumeck demonstrates a contemporary image of a herd of wild horses trotting across a plain. She pulls inspiration from a visit to her native homeland, Australia. "I was struck by the sheer volume of parrots flying in the sky," shares Alana. She combines inspiration from a mix of her two homes—the murmuration of the Australian budgerigar that shows up in the masses and a herd of galloping horses inspired by the western culture of the Santa Ynez Valley.
About the Artist
Australian-born Alana Clumeck was raised by artistic parents who owned a pottery studio during her youth. Although she grew up throwing pots, it wasn’t until she was pregnant with her second child that she began painting as creative therapy. For Alana, being an artist is entwined with motherhood. She works from her home studio, so she often paints while watching her children play. When the kids are at school, painting becomes precious meditative time alone. “Since my discovery of art came as a form of therapy, I still use it to paint out my thoughts or feelings,†says Alana. “I will often use symbolism within my paintings to represent how I feel.â€

- Sleeping Under the Stars, Original PaintingBy Andrea DossLocated in San Francisco, CA
Artist Comments
What do sleeping dragons dream of? Starry nights and moonlit trees Castles tall and oceans deep Dancing on the whispering wind And flying to where the sunlight bendsAbout the Artist
Andrea Doss discovered that there were stories hiding in her paintbrush, and has been bringing them to life with her art ever since. Her paintings capture the essence of children’s books and lullabies. Andrea’s love for fairytales and storytelling is evident in her personification of animal friendships and activities. Adventurous, sweet, and whimsical are appropriate words to describe the artist’s fanciful characters. Andrea lives in Texas and works from her home, always closely supervised by her opinionated one-eyed cat named Poe.Words that describe this painting: dragon, storybook art, kids art, stars, night sky, nursery art...

$15,000 - Not as straight forward as you thinkBy Jenny DayLocated in New Orleans, LARetreating from the stress and chaos of the last year, I created another landscape; populated by an army of friendly creatures. Here the burdens of coronavirus, climate change, and political division are dismissed by hot pink kittens that arc gracefully through meter showers and owls that bury into beds of daffodils. In this place worry is edged out by the fantastic and mystical snails trail neon candy canes through the scorched earth. The apocalyptic is supplanted by the surreal and the allegorical. Anxiety followed me. The escapist reflects and distorts its shadow world, the real, a funhouse mirror...Category
