About the Item
Wild Beauty, Original Contemporary Farmhouse Equestrian Painting
24" x 18" x 0.75" (HxWxD) Acrylic on Canvas
Hand-signed by the artist.
A simple approach to an equestrian portrait, this gestural acrylic painting by artist April Moffatt puts the horse face to face with the viewer of the composition, engaging with a subtle eye contact to evoke a deeper emotional connection. The neutral color palette is reminiscent of a sepia toned photograph, which gives a sense of nostalgia and charm to the work. There is something calming about the painting, perhaps due to the therapeutic nature horses can have with humans. This work would be right at home on a barn ranch in Texas, but could also help bring the mid-western, country vibe to a more eclectic or transitional environment as well.
Artist Commentary:
Loose brushstrokes and expressive energy were used to convey the energy that resides just beneath a horses skin. The main colors that were used in acrylic painting are ocher, brown, blue, black.
About the Artist:
April is heavily influenced by the classical impressionists but strives to bring about elements of expressionism as well into her paintings. She uses color fearlessly and is always striving to "capture the light". April wants her paintings to invoke the feelings of her subjects and especially the wild feelings of being out of doors surrounded by the beauty of nature.

- Cat Skeleton, Original Signed Black and Pink Contemporary Painting on CanvasLocated in Boston, MACat Skeleton, Original Signed Contemporary Black and Pink Painting 12" x 9" x 0.75" (HxWxD) Acrylic on Canvas Hand-signed and dated by the artist. Finished with a gloss varnish. A black background allows the subject matter of this acrylic painting by artist Lindsay Hall, a cat skeleton, to stand out in stark contrast. An item in a cabinet of curiosities, this memento mori work serves as a pausing point to sit and reflect on the fleeting nature of life, both our own and the creatures around us. Pinks, purples, and oranges peek through the white of the articulated skeleton. These colors are usually associated with warmth and more cheery emotions, so their inclusion in this piece, which many would interpret as somber, is interesting. Ultimately, this work can be seen as a celebration of life and the enduring beauty of nature an appreciation for the anatomy that shapes our world. Artist Commentary: I painted this when I lived in Richmond, VA above an oddities shop. Being in such close proximity to various curiosities like taxidermied animals, preserved animal organs, coffins, and the like definitely kept my mind in the spooky mood all year round. The building itself was black and had a giant grim reaper...Category

- SerenityLocated in Ibadan, OyoSerenity is an original painting by Bright Toh. Bright created Serenity Acrylic on a 27.5W by 35.4H inches primed canvas. The artwork "Serenity" is a bright and colorful depiction of a lion head and rose flower, created entirely by a human hand. The combination of these two natural elements results in a stunning and harmonious image that exudes a sense of calm and tranquility. The lion head is the central focus of the artwork, rendered in vibrant hues of orange and yellow that evoke a sense of warmth and vitality. The lion's mane, which surrounds its powerful features, is depicted in a range of shades, from soft pastel pinks and purples to fiery reds and oranges. The overall effect is one of movement and fluidity as if the lion's mane is a living thing in and of itself. Intertwined with the lion's mane is a delicate rose flower, rendered in shades of pink and red that complement the warm tones of the lion's fur. The rose seems to emerge from the lion's mane as if it is a natural extension of the animal's power and beauty. The combination of these two elements creates a powerful visual metaphor, suggesting that beauty and strength can coexist in perfect harmony. Despite the boldness of its colors and imagery, "Serenity" also conveys a sense of calm and tranquility. The lion's expression is serene, and the rose is depicted in a way that suggests a sense of peace and stillness. The artwork invites the viewer to slow down and take a moment to appreciate the beauty of the natural world, and to find solace in its quiet strength. Overall, "Serenity" is a powerful and evocative work of art that combines elements of nature in a way that is both visually stunning and emotionally resonant. Its vibrant colors and bold imagery capture the viewer's attention, while its underlying sense of peace and harmony invites reflection and contemplation. It is a testament to the beauty and power of the natural world and a reminder of the importance of finding serenity in our busy and often chaotic lives.
