The Duel by Alcide Joseph LORENTZ (French 1813-1891) signed and dated 1857 oil painting on canvas, framed framed size: 30 x 25 inches condition: very good and presentable, previous repairs showing to the reverse. provenance: formerly in a private collection, central France. A very fine original oil painting by the well listed and sought after French artist, Alcide Joseph LORENTZ (French 1813-1891). The work is both signed and dated, 1857. Beautiful details captured, both to the elegant, sweeping staircase, and to the figures. The work also has a very defined and captivating palette. An excellent example of this important mid 19th century French painters work.

Finally, and out of admiration for Fortuny's orientalist painting, he returned to Seville and organized an excursion to Morocco.
