Antonio de Felipe
Antonio De Felipe was born in València, in 1965. Even from a young age, this multi-talented young man had artistic tendencies which led him to study fine arts in València. His work as an advertising agency creative designer during his studies undoubtedly influenced what would be his future pictorial style. He has been living and working in Madrid for over a decade. During the 20 years of his intense professional career, Antonio de Felipe has participated in over 70 solo exhibitions, both in Spain and abroad as well as many collective exhibitions such as “La Casa de Vacas” and “La Galleria Seiquer” in Madrid, “La Galleria Maria José” and “Castellvi” and “el Museu Picasso” in Barcelona In addition to his strong national and international presence, he has also participated in fairs such as ARCO, ART COLOGNE, ART PARIS, ART Brussels, ST-ART Strasbourg and Korea International Art Fair which are regarded as benchmark fairs for discovering the latest trends. De Felipe has developed his extensive work in different series, many of which have become reference points making him one of the most imitated artists in the country. His most important series include LOGOTIPOS (Logos) which was devoted to the world of art and advertising which included works such as la Infanta de Naranja (the Orange Fanta Princess) and El Buen Pastor con Norit (the Good Shepherd with Norit) and VACAS (Cows), with pictures such as la Vaca Vogue or the sculpture Vaca Coca Cola. CINEMASPOP was devoted to the world of cinema and where Audrey Hepburn was revived as a pop icon through his creations such as Black Audrey and Desayuno con Diamantes para la Eternidad (Breakfast with Diamonds are Forever) and POP SPORT, his latest works devoted to the world of sport in which de Filipe mixes the world of art and cartoons with references to various sports, such as in Menina con Chándal (Menina with Tracksuit). The success of de Felipe’s career has, without doubt, turned him into one of the world’s most iconic pop artists; attested to by the fact that he is the only Spanish representative in the exhibition on “Marilyn Monroe: Life as a Legend”, which toured all the major European cities, the USA and Canada. As a multidisciplinary artist, de Felipe has not limited himself to just painting or sculpture in the strictest sense of the word but has also shown his rare talent in other fields. He worked with Pedro Almodóvar in the film Carne Trémula, he has created image merge transitions for Telemadrid and designed tableware for the firm Santa Clara as well as posters and album covers and worked with major publications such as ByN Dominical, El País, El Magazine from El Mundo newspaper, Marie Claire, Elle, Qué leer and Rolling Stone Magazine. Antonio de Felipe’s skill as a portrait artist should not be discounted either, one of his paintings, commissioned by the ABC newspaper, is a portrait of his Highness Prince Felipe de Borbón, to commemorate his 40th birthday. His work is currently exhibited in both public and private institutions such as Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía, Institut Valencià d'Art Modern, the Sydney Besthoff Foundation in New Orleans, the Col·lecció Testimoni from the Fundación La Caixa, the Carmen, Thyssen-Bornemisza Collection, the Kneip Art Collection in Luxemburg and the Montblanc Cultural Foundation.

- Marilyn puntos rojosBy Antonio de FelipeLocated in Malmo, SEPainting Antonio de Felipe "Marilyn puntos rojos" Acquired directly from the artist. Free shipment worldwide. Painted on the sides. No frame needed. The work of Antonio de Felipe is a constant source of fascination and surprises. It is a great pleasure to witness how the artist’s inge-nious world of ideas and his sense of humour are constantly evolving. Antonio de Felipe was born in Valencia in 1965. Ever since a very young age he has felt an artistic drive that led him to earn a fine arts degree at the University of Valencia. During his studies he worked as a creative designer in an advertising agency which undoubtedly influenced what would be his future pictorial style. In 1996 he moved to Madrid where he has his studio. Antonio de Felipe has developed his extensive work in different series. His subject worlds form a surprising genre blend, a linking of series characters, classical art and commercialism side by side with contemporary icon worship. His motifs are often painted in constellations that pay homage to great artists, including Velázquez, Picasso, Mondrian and others. Many of his works exhibit an ingenious ability to express powerful paradoxes. One example of this can be seen in the paraphrase on Diego Velázquez famous Las Meninas (Spanish for The Maids of Honour), painted in 1656. Instead of the glass of cold, perfumed water in the original, Antonio de Felipe places a Fanta soft drink in the hand of the young Spanish princess Margarita. The painting is part of the series LOGOTIPOS (logos) devoted to the world of art and advertising. This series was followed by VACAS (cows), with paintings such as Vaca Vogue, a pink cow on the cover of a Vogue magazine. Then, CINEMASPOP where actors like Marilyn Monroe and Audrey Hepburn among others were revived as pop icons, with well-known creations such as Black Audrey. In 2009 Antonio de Felipe presented POPSPORT in which the artist mixes the world of sport with cartoons and art history, uch as in La carrera where Picasso’s Demoiselles d’Avignon are participating in a run at a stadium. And latest, the LPop series where the artist is playing with the motifs and titles of famous LP album covers, such as Bad Bart where Bart Simpson...Category

- Looking backBy ErróLocated in Malmo, SEArtwork size: 81 x 119 cm. Frame size: 94 x 132 cm Free shipment worldwide. Acquired directly from the artist. Signed and dated on the verso. “I paint because painting is a private Utopia,” Erró writes of his art. The landscapes in Erró’s work are a constantly changing kaleidoscope of images, multivalent and mysterious, not infrequently controversial, bursting with life – and titillating, too! There is room in his pictures for both paradise and visions of fear. Erró is the alias of Gudmundur Gudmundsson, born on 19 July 1932 in Olafsvik, in north-western Iceland. Since Gudmundur first became enthralled by pictures of works of art in a catalogue from the Museum of Modern Art in New York at the tender age of ten, painting has been his passion and his mission in life. He was accepted into art school in Reykjavik as a 19-year old, subsequently complementing what he had learned there with further studies in Oslo. Erró travelled extensively in Spain, Italy, France and Germany in the 1950s, studying at the Florence Academy of Art in 1954 and at the School of Byzantine Mosaic Art in Ravenna in 1955. It was around this time that he began to exhibit his works, first and foremost in Paris, where he chose to make his home in 1958. During the 1960s he established contact with the Swedish museum director Pontus Hultén, who encouraged him and took him under his wing. Over the years Erró has taken part in hundreds of exhibitions and today his works are on show in museums all over the world, including the Centre Pompidou in Paris. Erró’s pictorial world is peopled by comic-strip characters and autocratic despots alike. Donald Duck with his Daisy, Chip & Dale, and other Walt Disney creations are unselfconsciously juxtaposed with Greek gods and madonnas. Elsewhere the German dictator Adolf Hitler stands shoulder to shoulder with his Iraqi counterpart Saddam Hussein...Category

- EnjoymentBy Maria ManuelaLocated in Malmo, SEFree shipment worldwide Acquired directly from the artist. MariaManuela’s pictures define the contrasts between the culture of the Far East and the western world’s pop-culture at the same time as they bring the two forms together. She derives her inspiration from classic Japanese woodcuts and their motifs of fantastically coiffured, cherry-lipsticked women, dressed in exquisitely patterned kimonos. But what she presents for the viewer are modern young Japanese women in mini-skirts, dancing among the cherry blossom and haiku poems. Her Pop Icons are painted in vinyl on linen canvas – layer upon layer laboriously laid down to achieve the effect of a printed, japanned surface. The lines of the lips, the semi-circular contours of the eyes and the billowing coiffures are expressed against a monochromatic background. Her advertisement-like images combine mystique with unequivocal simplicity, setting a stage for all manner of different facial expressions – melancholy, pensive, jovial. Born in Stockholm in 1959, Maria Manuela Vintilescu’s first serious encounter with art came at the age of seven. It was with fascination that she viewed Niki de Saint-Phalle’s giant sculpture She, then displayed at the Museum of Modern Art in Stockholm. After graduating from the Ecole Française in Stockholm, Maria took courses in painting, drawing and advertising. After ten years as a scene painter in the theatre, she turned to her own art. Her Pop Icons appeared for the first time in 1998. Two years later her Flower Year suite was exhibited in the Stockholm Spring Show at Liljevalch’s Gallery. These twelve female portraits were published in booklet form accompanied by Japanese haiku poetry interpreted by her father, Jan Vintilescu. It was his book that had first introduced this Japanese lyric form to a wider audience of Swedes in 1959. Since the exhibition at Liljevalchs in 2000, her Pop Icons have been exposed at galeries, art fairs and museums in Europe and elsewhere, like in Tokyo Art Factory in Japan, at Villa Tamaris-Centre d’art in la Seyne-sur-Mer and at SOMA Museum of modern Art in Seoul. In much the same way as the haiku moves us by the eloquence of its brevity, MariaManuela seeks through her pictures to convey situations, facial expressions and frames of mind by the most sparing and subtle of means. Her father had sought the same in rendering the haikus of the Japanese poet...Category
