Here for your consideration is a beautiful original oil painting of two ballerina’s waiting to come on stage by the French artist Dietz Edward. Exquisitely executed by a master artist. Artist signed lower right. The painting is in excellent original condition with no issues. Circa 1955. The painting is in its original ornate gilt over gesso wood frame in fine condition. Overall measurements framed 41.5 by 35 inches. Provenance: Palm Beach, Florida estate. Dietz Edzard (1893 - 1963) Dietz Edzard was born n Bremen in 1893. He traveled extensively through Germany, Holland and France. Edzard, a colourful artist who has carried on the traditions of the masters of French Impressionism, studied painting with Max Beckmann. In 1929, Edzard's work was included in an exhibition of Contemporary Painting at the Jeu de Paume, Paris, a museum dedicated to the Impressionist masters. In 1938, Edzard married Suzanne Eisendieck (1908-1998), a well-regarded artist in her own right who worked in an impressionistic style. In his book D. Edzard, Gerd Muehsam writes: "Edzard has captured in his canvases the charm of the Parisian atmosphere. With the light, vibrant touch of his brush, he produced sparkling, and yet delicate, paintings of beautiful women, dancers and flowers. His brilliant delineations of circus life and the theatre, his spirited portrayals of Parisian café scenes have made him a favorite of art circles in this country and abroad" "Consciously, (Edzard) turns his back on the experimental art of his contemporaries, opposes all weighting of art with programs and theorems. Deliberately, he avoids the representation of human conflict and inner discords and the chaos and shifting quicksands of modern existence. Instead, he prefers to work along well-defined modes of expression. The line begun in portraits of Velazquez and Goya and continued in the art of Manet and Renoir becomes Edzard's artistic credo". • La Porte Saint Denis, Paris - Post Impressionist Cityscape Oil by Lucien Genin
    By Lucien Génin
    Located in Marlow, Buckinghamshire
Signed oil on original canvas figures in landscape circa 1930 by French post impressionist painter Lucien Genin. The work is centred around the Porte Saint-Denis - a triumphal arch located in Paris, France. The street is bustling with city-goers and cars pass by the tall buildings painted in red, yellow and white. Signature: Signed lower left Dimensions: Framed: 27"x31" Unframed: 20"x24" Provenance: Private French collection Lucien Génin came from a family of stone-cutters. He first studied at the art school in Rouen, then in 1919 entered the École des Arts Décoratifs in Paris. He settled in Montmartre early in the 1920s, and in 1936 moved to the Latin Quarter. Although he had received a thorough training, he created his own completely spontaneous technique aiming at approaching his subjects with a fresh look. Beside a few views of Rouen, Lorient, Dinan and Villefranche-sur-Mer, Génin specialised in the popular theme of views of Paris. He worked swiftly, making rapid jottings, and thus could produce many paintings. At auction his pictures were sometimes sold in lots. He painted both in oils and in gouache. Lucien Génin showed work at the Salon d'Automne in 1926 and 1930. His work featured at the Marcel Aymé and the Painters exhibition, Galerie Roussard...
