2000-01 In Style Magazine: May 2001: WillWonders Never Cease, article showing Eric McCormack (actor of Will and Grace sitcom) with an Edward Povey painting in his collection. 2008-10 BBC Television, ITV Television, S4C Television and regional newspapers celebrate Povey’s contribution to art in Britain. Enters a period of transition in the visual language employed in his paintings. During this evolution he withdraws from gallery representation, seeking a seclusion which will serve his research. He privately explores through his Emotional Expression Period of paintings. Moves to build an isolated studio in the USA.
2011-12 MOMA Wales authors Edward Povey book: Discusses his career, in which Povey created more than 3500 artworks with subsequent placement into 600 public, corporate and private collections in 16 countries. The BBC and the Public Catalogue Foundation (UK) Partnership published most of Povey’s publicly owned works in their Your Paintings Project which has put the UK’s entire national collection of over 210,000 oil paintings online. Continues to decline representation by commercial galleries during a period of reevaluation of his painting.
2013-14 Garmon Press (UK) publishes the first five volumes of the Public Catalogue Foundation series Oil Paintings in Public Ownership. Povey works appear in four of the five initial volumes, more are expected in subsequent volumes. BBC interviews with Huw Roberts - former head of BBC Wales, and Paul Islwyn Thomas - former head of Arts and Culture BBC Wales- in which he discusses his new exploration, employing larger canvases and complex methods of harvesting imagery, abandoning his previous approaches to painting and advancing into a more challenging and also more direct, visceral style. He combines realistic forms with pure abstract forms in the same paintings, giving rise to a seamless ‘visual language’: one that opens the door to new and eloquent possibilities in style and meaning, and which is considerably more impactful on live viewers of his paintings. 2013-15 Povey begins to collaborate with the artist Tolar Schultz on building a new concept combining abstraction and liminal figuration, documented by Italian Museum Curator Giuseppe Bachi; and the Former Head of Public Policy of BBC Wales and Deputy Chair of Artes Mundi, Huw Roberts.

2016 I.E.E.E. - the largest organization of engineers in the world, published their charter for ethics in artificial intelligence, using Povey and Schultz paintings as illustrations. They also advise the White House and the United Nations.
2016 - 2018 - the Povey and Schultz duo made two collections of paintings each year, but they were both simultaneously reawakening the evolution of their own individual art, which had been paused in 2012. Refreshed by his creative sojourn with Schultz and inspired by new research in the National Gallery of Art in London, Povey alighted upon the idea of combining Cubist mixed perspectives with Early Renaissance methods of painting flesh. Through his demanding emotional life experiences, he still carried the undiminished vision of congruent cherishing in human relationships, encapsulated in the motif of a man longingly serenading a sleeping woman through the night, lost in reverie. This subject, employing Modernist strength and Raphael’s tenderness, could answer his long-sought wish of creating a better way of showing complicated and vulnerable emotions. The art dealer Angela King offered Povey and Schultz an artists’ residency at her river home in late 2018, and the peaceful isolation provided Povey with the perfect environment in which to shake the wrinkles out of his breakthrough.
2019 - Povey begins to show with Arcadia Contemporary, Pasadena, California. Povey’s now elderly mother had begun to fail, and so he and his wife, artist Tolar Schultz, returned to the UK to rejoin her. There he continued to pursue this new profoundly authentic line of paintings, deep in the countryside only 290 miles from the site of Edward Povey’s distant childhood in London.
2020 - Povey artwork appears in the exhibition ISOLATION MASTERED at the JD Malata Gallery, Mayfair, London. Jean David Malat, the reknowned London-based art dealer and curator, acquires a Povey artwork for his private collection. Mr Malat is the founder of the JD Malat Gallery, Mayfair, London; patron of Tate Gallery; patron of the Royal Academy of Art; supporter of Serpentine Gallery.
Povey artworks appear at the Los Angeles Art Fair in February with Arcadia Contemporary, Pasadena, California.

Edward Povey
Born in 1951, Edward Povey studied arts throughout the 1970s at both the Eastbourne College and the University of Wales. In the late 1990s, he was invited to join the Royal Cambrian Academy of Art and began to be shown in museums both in Britain and the United States. From 2008 to 2010, he entered a period of transition in which he moved to the United States. Povey's familiarity with Central Texas began in the early nineties when he paid a visit on the invitation of one of his sons' friends. “I met six people, who all said, ‘You've got to come to dinner, and you must come and see us, and this and this,’” Povey recalls. “Then I’d come down and go to dinner with three of them, and each time there would be six more people who would say, ‘Hey, you really have to do this and this.’” With every visit, Povey’s circle of Austin friends kept expanding geometrically and with it the number of people who were also interested in his artwork. “It just sort of grew and grew, because I was doing these kinds of Gertrude Stein-y things,” says Povey. “And through those, I got some really fervent collectors, collectors who started out timidly and then became just obsessed. One of the biggest collections in the world now — it later moved up to the Panhandle, but there are about 60 works in that one collection.” In the fall of 2018, Povey, along with his wife and artistic partner Tolar Schultz, returned to the UK to care for his elderly mother in the London countryside.

Signed and dated lower left corner "Karl Muller - Hamburg 1918". Condition: Good; professionally restored: Canvas restreched on new stretcher bars; five repairs made to small tears in canvas (see image); cleaned and re-varnished with UV-resistant varnish. Karl Müller was born in Hamburg-Altstadt in 1865. His wealthy Jewish parents Abraham Müller (1832-1896), citizen of the Hanseatic city since 1869, and Henriette "Jette", b. Burchard (born 1832 Neubuckow / Mecklenburg), had a cigar factory at Spielbudenplatz 5 in St.Pauli. When Karl Müller was ten years old, next to factory and warehouse, now at Speersort 11 (Altstadt), there was also a branch in Altona-Ottensen with the address Am Felde 68. The family lived at the time at Pferdemarkt 13 (Old Town). After attending the Jewish Foundation School at the Zeughausmarkt, Karl Müller completed a three-year lithography apprenticeship. From 1886 to 1888, he studied at the Royal Saxon School of Applied Arts in Dresden with the history and decoration painter Donadini, then with Professor Hanke of the Prussian Academy of Arts in Berlin. Karl Müller's painting style was conventional-realistic and did not follow modern trends. In 1891, the oil paintings "Preparation for the Service", "In the guardroom", tattoo", "gymnastics lesson", "covert patrol” and "return from the field service exercise”, whose main motive almost always soldiers formed.In 1893, he painted the" invasion of the 76er " as a horizontal format in black and white, the painting was acquired by the Museum of Hamburg History in 1930. The disposition of Karl Müller could be classified as "kaisertreu" and "national" (Maike Bruhns) at this time - not by chance he acted with his Nicknamed "Soldatenmüller", he successfully participated in exhibitions in Berlin and Hamburg before the turn of the century. In 1904 and 1911, the two daughters Karla and Lotte were born. 1904, the family lived at this time in the Bogenstraße 20, Karl Müller commissioned a portrait of the emigrated hamburger Henry Jones opening the same lodge in the Hartungstraße 9-11. Already at this time he might have been a member of the Hamburg Artists Association of 1832. Starting from 1908 further change of dwellings on the basis of the telephone books are comprehensible: nearly yearly the family moved and moved thereby from the Grindel quarter over Hoheluft east to Harvestehude and Winterhude. Around 1912 she moved into an apartment in Sierichstraße 156. Here, the landlord Schröder provided the artist with an area of around 45 square meters as a studio on the dry floor. But the building police criticized this use and after some disputes, the painter had to move once again with family and studio. The official telephone directory recorded as an address from 1914 to 1918 Klosterallee 20 (Harvestehude).
