2022

About the Item

Acrylic, oil & varnish on marouflaged paper with wooden panel Sylvia Brotons is a French artist born in 1947 who lives and works who lives and works in Paris, France. Sylvia is self-taught artist. Her career as a costume designer for theatre, opera, baroque or futuristic parties has led her to master materials and colors to dress and magnify bodies. For 10 years, the brushes joined his tools, and it is in an inverse process that his pictorial work fits in by questioning the body in its simple pageantry. The meticulousness of her textile work gives way to powerful and instinctive lines to bring out a personal style whose brutality echoes our time. It is mainly through the female figure and its relationship to the world that his painting gives us these exposed bodies whose need for consolation is impossible to satiate.
