About the Item

Hercules Brabazon Brabazon 1821-1906 was an English watercolour artist. He studied in England and Switzerland, painted in the manner of Joseph Mallord William Turner and he travelled extensively throughout Europe, the Middle East and North Africa. He didn't exhibit until much later in life, and only then at the suggestion of John Singer Sargent, he was not dependant on his artistic skills for income he was independently wealthy having acquired a Baronet and large estates . His work was somewhat loose but is very collectable and much desired when painted in a detailed manner such as this.

Tonalist are usually intimate works, painted with a limited palette.
