Much of Marc Todd's art work is based on subjects and locations in and around Bath, London, and the South West of England. He takes his primary inspiration from structure, texture and composition, and has a love for the application of vivacious colour palettes, dramatic and contrasting light effects, and dynamic mark-making to create aesthetically captivating surfaces. Marc Todd conceives his work 'in situ', and is always based upon real places observed first hand. In recent times, Marc has focused on creating cityscapes, particularly of London, and often on large canvases, blending a unique range of painting techniques to produce a truly distinct and modern aesthetic. These paintings capture the multi-layered dynamism of the ‘living’ city and combine a rigorous attention to physical and geographical detail with an overall harmony of surface effect. Marc has sold work to collectors internationally, both private and corporate, and exhibits his work on a regular basis. Originally trained in graphic design, Marc previously worked as a Creative Director for a number of large London based advertising agencies, before setting up his own creative consultancy advising clients including the BBC, Dow Jones International and Hearst Publishing. original Acrylic paints on canvas Image size: H:76 cm x W:102 cm Complete Size of Unframed Work: H:76 cm x W:102 cm x D:3.5cm Sold Unframed

  • A Glittering Autumn Day, Tree Art, Colourful Textured Painting, Autumnal Artwork
    By Nicky Chubb
    Located in Deddington, GB
A Glittering Autumn Day by Artist Nicky Chubb is an original artwork. Chubb's unique style of splattering paint for the leaves makes the tree stand out to the viewer. Nicky Chubb artist with Wychwood Art. Nicky Chubb comments " My work is essentially optimistic, whether I'm painting flowers or the sea, the emotions I aim to evoke are hope and happiness. The trees, big skies and hardy heathland flowers of the countryside around my home, and the sense of time and belonging that watching them through the seasons brings, are a huge inspiration. I try to capture a sense of air and movement as I paint. I originally trained as a designer (BA hons Fashion, Central St Martins 1993) and the influence of my love of textiles can be seen in my use of colour, texture and pattern. I am currently exploring the different effects, happy accidents and controlled corrosion of mixed media in the backgrounds of my tree paintings to create wilder skies. Drawing the human figure, trying to capture moments in time and changing light is an interest that has always run parallel to my other work. All my figure paintings are in mixed media, either quick, gestural drawings or multi-layered combinations of ink, paint, collage and resin. " Nicky Chubb artist is shown in Wychwood Art gallery...

  • "Endless Summer", acrylic, canvas, artist tools, toys, paintbrush, tube, beach
    Located in Toronto, Ontario
"Endless Summer" is a well-known artwork among Peter Schenck's many remarkable paintings, and addresses subject matter that continues to engage the artist – the tools of painting and art making, including brushes, tubes of paint and palette knife are arranged in a child-like tableau alongside brightly colored and eroticized inflatables of the hand, the breast, the dollop of paint... And all of it reminiscent of toys on a beach under blue skies where anything should be possible. From Peter Schenck: "Endless Summer mixes up the time-honored tradition of the still life with my feelings on an artist's attachment to their tools – brush, palette, paint – an attachment at times bordering on erotic, at times feeling awkward and all-thumbs. I was also taking on Tom Wesselmann's concentrated still lives of the 60s and 70s, banal and erotic all at once." "Endless Summer" is an acrylic paint on canvas measuring 30" tall by 25" wide. It was included in the group show "Sitting Still" at Bravin Lee Programs Gallery, New York City in October 2017, and showed alongside work by Fairfield Porter, Thomas Nozkowski, Janet Fish, Robert DeNiro Sr...
