Signed lower right, 'Cathcart' for Marjorie Cathcart (American, 1918-2014) and painted circa 1965. Additionally signed, verso, and titled, 'Alpine Landscape'. Marjorie Cathcart first attended the University of California in Berkeley, where she studied with Lundy Siegriest, Tom Holland and Anne O’Hanlon and was also influenced by the work of Wayne Thiebaud. Cathcart received her Bachelor's degree in 1943 and subsequently studied, and then taught, at the California College of Arts and Crafts, Over the course of a long and successful career, Marjorie Cathcart exhibited widely and with success including at the California State Art Exposition, the Jack London Fair, the California State Fair (1st place, 1967) and the Annual International Art Festival, San Francisco among others. We are pleased to offer this major work from the artist's middle period.
