The Same Moon, 20 x 13, Landscape, Oil Painting

2024

About the Item

Behold the quiet majesty of "The Same Moon," an evocative oil on panel by the artist Robin Cole, crafted in the year 2024. This original painting, sized at 20 x 13 inches (50.80 x 33.02 cm) with framed dimensions of 21.50 x 14.50 inches, represents a primary market offering that encapsulates the universal experience shared under the moon's unwavering gaze. Cole's "The Same Moon" is a testament to the minimalistic beauty of the nocturnal sky, where a crescent moon hovers above a blush-toned horizon. The artist's deft hand captures the moon's cratered surface with ethereal subtlety against the vast expanse of the twilight sky. The slender frame enhances the elongated composition, drawing the viewer's eye upward to the celestial body that has inspired countless poets and dreamers. The serene composition and soothing palette make this piece an ideal contemplative addition to any refined collection, inviting a moment of introspection and connection to the natural rhythms of the earth and sky. Artist Statement 'The Same Moon' I found myself sitting on the back steps one midsummer morning just before 5 AM, gazing up at a pale moon with gritty eyes and the type of exhaustion I didn’t even know you could live through. I had just comforted my newborn back to sleep for perhaps the dozenth time that night, and I thought the sorrow— of what, I do not know—would crush me. And yet, as I gazed up at the moon, I imagined all the other mothers, new and old, who might be sitting on their own steps, gazing up at the same moon. I felt their companionship. I felt the cool air on my skin and fullness of summer all around me. To satiate my perpetual hunger, I took another bite of my oats, bursting with ripe apple and the sweetness of Vietnamese6 cinnamon. Sometimes, the ineffable beauty and sadness of the world are so overwhelming that you can only breathe in the scent of the sage blossoms beneath the moon. Then breathe out. - Robin Cole
