Serge Ovcaruk
Tour de France, original 31x40 expressionist figurative landscape

About the Item

Lithuanian born artist Serge Ovcaruk has used his palette knife to create a figurative sporting landscape that layers the many secrets, hopes and heartaches of the most revered cyclists on the globe. His heavy impasto paint application knows no boundary in this original oil painting. The lime green grass and ashy white roadway only set the backdrop for the powerful, gritty and yet poetic tale that begins to reveal the heart and soul of the world class cyclists of the renowned Tour de France. Serge Ovcaruk began his journey into expression through oil painting at the Khmelnitsy Youth School of Arts in Ukraine, graduating in 1979, after which he studied from 1982-1986 with Vladimir Borodin to advance his fundamental techniques. In 2009 he became a member of the Zhemaitija Artists Association of Lithuania followed by membership in the Wimbledon Open Art Studio of London in 2014, a then resident of England, and a Chevalier ranked member of the Mondial Art Academy of France in 2018. Ovcaruk is a multiple award winning artist whose works hang in private collections world wide from Sweden to Russia to Ecuador, to the United Arab Emirates to Germany, Canada and the United States.

  • The Mill, First Slaughter, original impressionist English landscape
    By John Phillip Osborne
    Located in Spring Lake, NJ
Known for it's timeless charm, the quaint Cotswolds of England are what dreams are made of. First Slaughter, Upper and Lower Slaughter adjacent to Bourton-on-the-Water are such places! The Eye Brook weaves through the Slaughters, affectionately known as "the Slaughter;" the name was derived from the local marsh rather than what one might otherwise expect! This original impressionist landscape exemplifies the historical importance of the mill in these hamlets as well as the warm and inviting feeling of the region of Cotswolds, England. Also exemplifying the English countryside in this original impressionist landscape are the thatched rooves, architecture, rugged terraine and locals lingering, all seemingly frozen in time! Legendary artist John Phillip Osborne, applying many of the principles of the Barbizon school of art painters as well as classic impressionism, was the leading instructor of the highly regarded Ridgewood Art Institute of New Jersey for more than thirty four years. Osborne taught a generation of his students to go beyond the obvious in portraying their subject matter in a composition striving to capture the genuine overall feeling of the moment. He had graduated with honors from Pratt Institute of NYC and then continued his studies at the Art Students League, also of NYC. Original Osborne oil paintings...

  • Winter Stroll, Central Park West, original 20x24 contemporary NYC landscape
    Located in Spring Lake, NJ
At last a winter wonderland is upon us as is our requisite winter stroll, heading towards Central Park West. There is a yellow to orange to rusty red tint to the trees, seemingly left over from the fall, provding some shelter from the extra large snow flakes that are increasingly dusting both of you. This magical feeling of another year together in the park causes time to pause momentarily. You glance over to see if the dog notices or the parent or child who have unwittingly become interlopers in your moment of calm and love. Applying an unusual contemporary style to his contemporary NYC landscape, time honored artist Patrick Antonelle...

  • Tarrasso. small square. House in the countryside. Original acrylic painting
Located in CORAL GABLES - MIAMI, FL
Les Guilleries. Original acrylic painting Casimiro Martínez Tarrassó, a painter known simply as Tarrassó. He was trained at the La Llotja School in Barcelona. He completed his studies in Paris, where he got to know first-hand the Fauvist works that were shaking the Parisian art scene at the time. This Fauve influence will continue to be palpable in his work throughout his life in features such as the strong chromatic contrast, the elevated and somewhat exaggerated perspective, the absolute disinterest in the human figure, which appears only sketched as a complement to the landscape, and the representation of trees as electrified, subjected to tortuous inclinations. It is these formal features that give his works their own vitality and reduce their connection with the referential to a mere pretext. Tarrassó followed in the wake of the great Catalan landscape painters, paying particular attention to Joaquín Mir, although with a clearly differentiated personality due in part to the impact that Fauvism had on his artistic thinking. He cultivated still life and Catalan and Majorcan landscapes. He held his first exhibition in 1928 in Barcelona. Since then his shows have followed in Barcelona, Madrid, Palma de Mallorca and Bilbao. In 1935 he visited Mallorca for the first time, and from 1940 on he will have a studio there, specifically in Palma, where he lived for long periods and developed most of his artistic production. After the Civil War, during the 1940s, Tarrassó took part in several National Exhibitions of Fine Arts, in their editions of 1942, 1943 and 1950. Although the landscape was always the center of his production, Tarrassó also made works such as the mural decoration of the church of Santa María de Badalona. In Mallorca he also carried out a unique undertaking, planting his trestle in the Campanet caves to capture the stalactites and stalagmites from their stone cavities, developing a series of works that he presented in 1948. Throughout his career, Tarrassó was awarded the Pollença Prize of the I International Painting Contest, in 1962; the Santiago Rusiñol...
