About the Item

Serene seascape of Carmel, California by unknown artist Elle (20th Century). (Helen S. Elle; By 1930 she and daughter Edith had moved to Los Angeles. Mrs. Elle died in San Diego, CA on March 12, 1964. Her known works include colorful depictions of southern California.) Source: Edan Hughes, "Artists in California, 1786-1940" The viewer looks out at the ocean from the beach, behind a large rock and cypress trees.
