Henri Malançon
Still Life with Peaches

About the Item

'Still Life with Peaches' is a charming example of the work of Henri Malançon who lived and worked in France between 1876 and 1960. It exemplifies a broad post impressionist style and reflects his training at the famous Academy Julian in Paris where he mixed with influential artists such as Georges Braque, Dunoyer de Segonzac and the leading tutor, Andre Lhote. After the First World War, Henri pursued a career painting landscapes around Normandy and Brittany, building towards his first solo exhibition which he held in 1930, it was a great success. Later he settled in the South of France near Vézalay - this work probably originates from his time there.
