About the Item
Marcia Wise's 'China Cup Jumble' is a 24 x 24 inch still life in oil paint from a series based on china cups and saucers set in disarray. Blues and cream predominate with flashes of green and orange in this remembrance of the former generation and tea time. Soft colors and elegant design are executed with brush and palette knife in a addition/reductive method to allow all layers of paint to show through in the finish creating soft light effects. This still life is signed by the artist on the front and is in a cherry float frame measuring 26 x 26 x 2.5 inches.
Marcia Wise is a Massachusetts-based contemporary oil painter and educator whose paintings are inspired by nature's landscape forms and patterns, color relationships, light effects and reflections, and the play of textures. Her work has been exhibited and collected nationally. Wise is represented by Fountain Street Gallery in Boston, MA.
