This vibrant exhibited Victorian Impressionist floral oil painting is by noted British American Royal Academy artist Mark Fisher. Painted circa 1895 it is a stunning Impressionist floral display of multi coloured autumnal chrysanthemums in a glass vase along with pewter vessels on a table. The colours of the chrysanthemums are picked up in the white tablecloth which contains a myriad of other colours and gorgeous brushwork. A really beautiful painting for all flower lovers and an excellent sensitive example of Fisher's prowess as an artist. Signed lower left. Provenance. Exhibited at Margaret Fisher Prout Memorial Exhibition in June 1966, label verso. Fine Art Society Condition. Oil on Canvas, 28 inches by 21 inches unframed and in good condition. Frame. Housed in a fine James Bourlet composition frame, 36 inches by 29 inches framed and in good condition. William Mark Fisher RA, ROI,NEA, RI (1841-1923). Landscape, genre and portrait painter born Boston USA. Studied at the Lowell Institute and under George Innes. Went to Paris 1861 and studied under Gleyre and Corot. Father of Millicent Margaret Prout. Fisher was a prolific exhibitor including 89 at Royal Academy, 251 at the Leicester Gallery and 133 at New English Art Club. It is interesting to note that Fisher is considered to be one of the first artists to bring the Impressionistic style to England.
