In a unique manner, David Drebin’s work combines voyeuristic and psychological viewpoints. He offers the viewer a dramatic insight into emotions and experiences which many of us have doubtlessly felt at some point in our lives. After graduating from Parsons School of Design in New York City in 1996, David Drebin rapidly made a name for himself as an internationally renowned photographer creating images
of movie stars, sports personalities and various entertainers and subsequently was commissioned for countless high profile advertising campaigns around the world.
David Drebin is a multidisciplinary artist working in various art forms producing limited edition works including Photographs, Lightboxes, Neon light Installations, Sculptures and Etchings on Glass.
In 2005, Drebin had his first solo exhibition at Camera Work in Berlin. This was followed by his first comprehensive illustrated book entitled “Love and Other Stories” in 2007 and this zeitgeist moment was followed by a stream of worldwide representation by a plethora of the finest galleries globally.
Drebin’s photographs are epic, dramatic and, above all, cinematic and have been collected around the world. In a unique and opulent way, Drebin stages femme fatales against the gigantic backdrops of cities such as Hong Kong, New York and Paris. The panorama of the big cities, which, due to their format, are a tribute to cinema, serve as cinematic settings. With their impressive skyscrapers, they provide the viewer with a nearly infinite surface for the imagination. The distinctive tension and depth in his pictures arise from the free combination of such differing topics as humour and sex, melancholy and sex, and melancholy and humour. At Art Miami in 2010, his now sold out “Central Park” sold for a record price of $78,000. In 2018 the record price of a David Drebin photograph “Jerusalem” sold for $100,000 through Art Angels Gallery in Los Angeles.
Exclusively publishing books with his books are distributed around the world and are often followed with exhibitions in Paris, New York, Miami, Istanbul, Amsterdam, Brussels and many other cities Internationally. Drebin is represented by the world’s finest Art Galleries including Camera Work in Berlin, Immagis in Munich, GKM Galleri in Sweden, Galerie de Bellefeuille in Montreal, Art Angels Gallery in Los Angeles, Preiss Fine Arts in Vienna and Fahey Klein in Los Angeles.
Drebin has released many books published by teNeues publishing and distributed worldwide including “The Morning After” (2010), Beautiful Disasters” (2012), “Chasing Paradise” (2015), “Dreamscapes” (2016), “Love and Lights” (2017) and “Before They Were Famous” (2019).

David Drebin
Love stories and landscapes are at the foundation of David Drebin's panoramas, portraits, and neon sculptures.
Drebin's monograph Love and Other Stories (2007) features solitary women in urban tableaux — high-rise apartments buildings and terraces, freeway overpasses and hotel rooms. Dressed alternately in bikinis, evening gowns, and negligees, the women appear to be in various stages of a love affair. They pout while lying on couches and ascend grand staircases; their legs emerge from doorways and car doors, their concealed upper bodies assumedly engaged in passionate embraces. Drebin's cityscapes present sweeping views of famous locales such as Jerusalem, Paris, and New York and incorporate both built and natural features. In “San Francisco Dusk” (2010), an illuminated grid of buildings reaches toward the misty blue horizon of the Pacific Ocean.

The characters portrayed in the film, (an actress, a singer, a DJ, a motel owner and his wife, a US army soldier, a mystic, a princess, a recluse, a movie ticket seller, two hitchhikers, a doctor, and so on), are to be played by both actors and non-actors. The story is constructed through the interpretation of real-life communications (i.e. phone calls, emails, conversations) that have taken place as the individuals depicted in the story try to make sense of events that have occurred in real life. In this sense, the story is, in part, a biography and social commentary, and the characters are the exaggerated alter egos of the individuals who play them. The structure of the plot is fairly simple. An actress working as a telemarketer is inspired by a singer who is new to town and is featured on the local radio station. The radio station runs a program for lonely hearts and a charismatic DJ uses the show to reveal the hopes and dreams of the town's “hottest women”. One night a panicked German female caller captivates the community with a painful story about a sexy “Smoke Jumper” (a mysterious and super real alpha male). Everybody in town is listening to the program and nobody is quite sure what to say. Life in general continues and we witness and explore the various interactions. The actress meets the singer and they become famous. The US Army soldier dies on his way to battle. The foreign princess discovers that the jewels she has come to sell are fake. The motel owner‘s wife has an affair with the pool boys and so on.
