About the Item

Frank Sinatra and entourage on Miami Beach 1968 (printed later) C print 48 x 72 inches Estate signature stamped numbered edition of 50 with certificate of authenticity from the Terry O'Neill estate This picture was taken on the first day of filming, as Senatra walked from his hotel at the Fontainebleau Miami Beach to the set of ‘The Lady in Cement’. “This was the first time I ever saw Frank and I was astonished by the mere power of his presence, mesmerizing the crowd as he walked casually past." - Terry O'Neill Terry O’Neill, in collaboration with digital artist Mariona Vilarós, has gone back to the original black and white negative to re-work the image in colour, as O’Neill remembers. Using archival film, movie-stills and O’Neill’s own memories, they have created this new edition of “Frank Sinatra on the Boardwalk” as the photographer remembers it. Terry O'Neill (born 1938; London, UK) is an English photographer. He gained renown documenting the fashions, styles, and celebrities of the 1960s. O'Neill's photographs display his knack for capturing his subjects candidly or in unconventional settings. His work has also been featured in numerous exhibitions. He was awarded The Royal Photographic Society's Centenary medal 'in recognition of a sustained, significant contribution to the art of photography' in 2011. More works by Terry O'Neill at IFAC Arts

Ormond Gigli Girls in the Window, 1960 (printed later) Color coupler print 60 x 60 inches Edition of 4 Signed, numbered and dated by the artist Ormond Gigli: The Visionary Behind the "Girls in the Windows" Ormond Gigli is a highly regarded American photojournalist, best known for his breathtaking portraiture and surreal fashion photography. With a career spanning over four decades, Gigli's visual narratives have appeared in prominent international publications such as TIME, LIFE, Paris Match, and Colliers. Gigli began his journey in the 1950s, gaining recognition for his captivating photographs of theater, film, and dance. His subjects were a medley of cultural icons - Sophia Loren, Gina Lollobrigida, Anita Ekberg, Marcel Duchamp, Willem de Kooning, John F. Kennedy, Halston, Marlene Dietrich, Judy Garland, Liza Minelli, Laurence Olivier, Alan Bates, Richard Burton, Louis Armstrong, Miles Davis, and many more. His approach to portraiture was as much about his technical prowess and compositional elegance as it was about his ability to elicit his subject's spirit and character, a skill that would mark him as one of the luminaries of his time, akin to contemporaries such as Richard Avedon, Irving Penn, and Diane Arbus. Yet, the pièce de résistance of Gigli's illustrious career is the iconic photograph known as "Girls in the Windows," taken in 1960. This masterwork exemplifies Gigli's innovative vision and ability to transform the everyday into a tableau vivant of unparalleled aesthetic appeal. The image depicts 43 women poised in the windows of a New York City brownstone, exuding an ephemeral vibrancy that captures the essence of 1960s fashion and art photography. Born in New York City in 1925, Gigli's passion for photography blossomed...
