CALIFORNIA VISTA, 1923
Aquatint signed and titled in pencil. 8 7/8 x 6 7/8 inches. Sheet 11 x 14 inches. Good condition. Very slight light stain around mat opening. A couple of small pieces of old
tape on sheet edge verso. This is probably the Arroyo in Pasadena where he lived and worked.

Doolittle is an important member of the California Arts and Crafts movement. A gifted craftsman, he produced a body of almost photorealist aquatints as well as etchings and drypoints than span 50 years beginning around 1915. He made very rare but highly sought
after furniture as well. Doolittle was a longtime member and officer on the California Print Makers Society, a member of the Chicago Society of Etchers and other print organizations. HIs body of art was aside from his day job as as chief design engineer for Southern California Edison. As a member of the art community in Pasadena, he worked along side other notable artists such as Frances H. Gearhart. $975
