Richard Seewald, 'Der Hirte (The Shepherd)', woodcut with hand coloring, c. 1919. Unsigned as published in 'Genius', Vol 1, no. 1, 1919. A fine, richly-inked impression, with fresh colors, on cream wove paper; full margins (1 1/4 to 2 5/8 inches); slight toning to the sheet edges, a small spot of foxing in the bottom right margin, otherwise in very good condition. Hand coloring by H. Gustav Brinckmann, Leipzig. Image size 9 3/8 x 7 inches; sheet size 13 3/4 x 9 3/4 inches. Matted to museum standards, unframed. With letterpress typeset in the bottom margin, verso, as published, 'Richard Seewald / Der Hirte. Original-Holzschnitt, koloriert'. Impressions of this work are in the permanent collections of the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, Minneapolis Institute of Art, Museum of Modern Art, Victoria & Albert Museum, London
