This is one of eighteen color mezzotints (printed on chine collé) depicting the landscape of coastal Maine. Intimations of the Arts and Crafts Movement of the early twentieth century are evident in the palette of greens and grays, with additional touches of violet, eggplant and ochre. The suite of prints Salt Granite Spruce is also available as a set.
Limited signed edition of 50. Sheet size is 11 x 15 inches

James Groleau
James Groleau, whether the earth-toned studies of death and personal introspection or the brightly colored floral and portrait series, reflect an interest in order in the universe and man’s place within it. Groleau studied at the Massachusetts College of Art and at the City College Printmaking Program in San Francisco. He exhibits both nationally and abroad and has received numerous awards. He is a member of the California Society of Printmakers and a board member of the Graphic Arts Workshop in San Francisco.
