About the Item

Original vintage travel advertising poster: Visit the South Sea Islands – Burns Philp Line. Colourful illustration by the Australian artist Walter Jardine (1884-1970) featuring two men rowing a traditional wooden outrigger canoe boat towards a buildings on the shore in front of palm trees and a forest with hills on the horizon, the stylised lettering in black and red above and below. The Australian company Burns Philp Line was established in 1883 by James Burns (1846-1923) and Robert Philp (1851-1922) serving the South Pacific passenger and trade shipping routes. Very good condition, backed on linen.
