Scene from the Western Front. French lithograph signed and dated in pencil below the image. Louis Abel-Truchet was a French painter, etcher and lithographer who studied art in Paris and began exhibiting his art at the leading Paris Salons c1891. This lithograph comes from a series of artist lithographs by Truchet which reveal his first-hand impressions of World War One. At the age of 57 he volunteered for active service and was sent to the Western Front. He died in combat in the closing months of the war. 320mm by 220mm (image only)
