Young Woman With Long Hair is an original hand drawn (not digitally or photo reproduced) limited edition lithograph by the artist Raphael Soyer - Russian/American Social Realism Painter, 1899-1987. Printed at JK Fine Art Editions Co. using traditional hand lithography techniques on archival Arches printmaking paper 100% acid-free rag. Young Woman With Long Hair is a sensitive, realistically drawn female portrait of a long haired young woman whose sideways glance immediately captures the viewers attention. She is wearing a simple, short sleeved blouse and straight skirt, arms in front, her hands look to be braiding her hair. A fine printed impression that has the feel of a graphite drawing. Print size 23.75" x 17" , unframed, excellent condition, pencil signed by Raphael Soyer Image size - 16.75" x 12" Year published - 1979 Edition size - 300, plus proofs Printer - JK Fine Art Editions Co., NY RAPHAEL SOYER, painter, lithographer, and teacher, was born on December 15, 1899, in Borisoglebsk, Tombov, Russia. The Soyer family moved to New York 1912, settling in the Bronx. Raphael's twin brother, Moses, and their brother, Isaac, were also artists. His formal studies were at Cooper Union, the National Academy of Design, and the Art Students League. Raphael's first solo exhibition was in 1929. He was a member of the National Academy of Design, American Academy of Arts and Letters, American Society of Painters, Sculptors and Gravers, Artists Congress, and the National Institute of Arts and Letters. Soyer taught at the Art Students League in New York. Working in oil painting or lithography printmaking, he was an American Scene artist who championed realism and his work portrays the daily life of New Yorkers. Soyer's works are in the collections of the Phillips Collection, the Corcoran Gallery of Art, the Metropolitan Museum, the Whitney Museum of American Art, the Smithsonian American Art Museum, the New York Public Library, the Fogg Art Museum at Harvard, the Asheville Art Museum, the Princeton University Art Museum, the Brooklyn Museum, and the Los Angeles County Museum of Art. Raphael Soyer died in New York on November 4, 1987.

About the Artist: Kenneth Adams was born in Kansas, and first started his art career in Topeka during 1913. He studied with artist, G.M. Stone, who became the basis for his formal education that began three years later at the Art Institute of Chicago. Adams served in WWI, and when he was discharged, he moved to New York City to study at the Art Students League. Soon after completing courses there, Adams moved abroad to study Italian and French art. In 1924, Adams was back in Kansas, where his friend Andrew Dasburg encouraged him to move to New Mexico.
