About the Item

Bernard & Arnaud Bessoud, 1946 & 1971 French "Lion Head", Bronze with brown patina Foundry Chapon Signed on the base and numbered Certificate from the Artist Dimensions: 7 7/8" high x 13 3/8" wide x 10 5/8" depth Bernard was born in February the 2nd, 1947. From his young age, he tried several technicals : drawing, painting, sculpture; concerned about the representation of the details and the will to cause emotion. Arnaud was born in October the 26th, 1971. After an art activity (copying from italian and french sanguine of the 17th and 18th centuries), he worked during several years in the famous Chapon Foundry in Paris. He learned the know-how of the art casting, and the new technicals to work with. During a long journey, Bernard and Arnaud went through Africa, in Mozambique, Zimbabwe, South of Africa and Botswana, to catch animals’ expression. When they came back, they worked on their « Bestiaire », which was a set of animal sculptures. They worked together enjoying their art and technical complementarity, and sometimes working with Arnaud’s sister, Elise. Despite their humility, they are rapidely well-known in the art market, and contacted by celebrities and experts.
