About the Item
Craig Coleman's artistic vision the sacred and profane coexist. His subject is the elemental everyman in confrontation with himself; naive, megalomaniacal and demonic. His oeuvre is populated by saints, not seen in tortured existences but instead placed in psycho-sexual contexts. His work imbues primitivism but with an equally naive western view. It is raw and intrusive, drawing on some unconscious tribal references without rationalism or historicism.
