Large white stoneware jar with black and white abstract figurative elements by South Korean artist Yeonsoo Kim. This piece is included in a 2023 group exhibition, "Friend of a Friend," curated by Vincent Di Nguyen at Reeves Art and Design.
Artist Biography: Yeonsoo Kim was born in 1977 in Haenam, South Korea. He earned his BFA in ceramics and glass from Hongik University, located in Seoul, Korea, and his MFA in ceramics at the Lamar Dodd School of Art at the University of Georgia, in Athens. He has held apprenticeships with Onggi masters in Jeolla-do (Hayngjong-Oh) and Gyeongsang-do (Jinkyu Huh) in Korea. Onggi is traditional earthenware in Korea that were commonly used as tableware and storage containers.
