This is a great vintage dress designed by Bill Tice in the late 1970's This full length dress is black with dramatic purple stripes on the exaggerated leg of mutton batwing sleeves. The dress is in a jersey fabric that is draped on the side with a side slit at the hem. This is a comfortable, versatile piece, that was designed to fit most sizes similar to a caftan or mumu. Bill Tice loved using fabrics that were luxurious and felt like lingerie so that women could wear them at home or out on the town! A New York Times article notes he was “known for designing dresses and pajamas that could be worn inside or outside the home.” He elevated his designs by using attractive colors and materials to give “at-home wear a less casual look.” For example, this loose-fitting caftan is comfortable enough to lounge in but its glimmering gold fabric is sure to make a statement. The dolman sleeves mirror the tapered body of the caftan. This silhouette offers a fitted-look without constricting the upper body. The long sleeves could be bunched up or worn down, depending on your tastes. This 1970s design is very much of its time, reflecting the disco and glam fashions of the decade. The metallic fabric is gathered around the shoulders into a textured gold yoke.
