Contemporary Monument Table Lamp - Square in Travertine, Solid Steel and Glass
By Louis Jobst
Located in London, GB
Monument Lamp - Square with Honed Roman Travertine, Solid Steel Billet and handblown Opal Matte Glass Louis Jobst' Monument Lamp - Square is high quality, bespoke and handmade using solid raw materials. The base is finished with a black patina and cut from 90mm thick steel billet. Markings from the process are visible and intentionally left, exposing the character of the material. A square block of Travertine slots into the steel base. The opal glass diffuser is hand blown with a matte finish. The concept was to design a lamp triptych (circle, triangle and square) made out of high quality materials for a formal interior space. A triptych of varying forms, colors and textures could create a 'common ground' throughout a space, whilst also working as individual lamps. Inspiration has come from architectural forms such as monoliths and monuments, implemented through the design with heavy, robust materials and simple geometric forms. The lamps consist of stacked shapes, designed like a small column...

Contemporary Ridge Table Lamp - Geometric Oak & Limestone Base with Linen Shade
By Louis Jobst
Located in London, GB
Ridge Lamp - Zig Zag by Louis Jobst Expressing mass and material quality are common threads found in Jobst’s iconic collection. The Ridge lamp creates a striking silhouette that echo early 20th century design and sculpture. The geometric form of the oak base is contrasted with a smooth face and a ridged textured surface. The oak has been ebonized using a technique that reacts with the tannin in the oak creating the dark surface. The refined element of the oak is contrasted by the solid limestone...

Minimalist-styled sand ceramic table lamp reveals the textures and colors gradian of its materials, handmade movements, and unexpected organic form. Slowly air-dried for more than 30 days, until it reaches a few hours into a low temperature hoven, to reach its final color and form. During all this process, the clay disc will take an unexpected organics movement in its form, almost like a living material, making each object unique in its details and colors. Ligne Light 1, by Sabine Marcelis, Blown Glass, Neon Light, Glass Table Lamp
By Sabine Marcelis
Located in Beverly Hills, CA
The Ligne sculptures were made during a summer artist residency at Pilchuck school of glass. As with many of Sabine Marcelis's explorations with light, these objects were born from a curiosity to explore how a material volume can interact with a single line of light and in this case also how two very different ways of working with glass can elevate eachother. Together with talented neon benders, Sabine Marcelis hand-bent each of the neon lights to wrap around the various glass volumes, accentuating their mass and in turn, the glass volumes filtering the light. Dutch-Kiwi designer Sabine Marcelis’s work is at the forefront of contemporary material innovation in product and installation design. She works with glass manufacturers and more, forging partnerships across her industry to bring her ambitiously experimental projects to fruition. Marcelis’s focus is on allowing happenstance sensory experiences to emerge by juxtaposing combinations of unlikely materials and colors. She was educated at the Design Academy Eindhoven and since founding her eponymous studio in 2011 in Rotterdam in the Netherlands, she has built a remarkable roster of clients in fashion, architecture and art. She has created signature pieces for the likes of Rem Koolhaas’s architecture firm OMA, high-fashion labels Fendi and Isabel Marant and luxury beauty brand Aesop. She has also exhibited at the Salone del Mobile in Milan and won Wallpaper* magazine’s Designer of the Year award for 2020. Marcelis was invited to create a sculptural intervention for the interiors of Ludwig Mies van der Rohe and Lily Reich’s iconic Barcelona Pavilion, which saw the debut of the pair’s timeless Barcelona chair in 1929. For her “No Fear of Glass” exhibition, the designer subverted the original request made to van der Rohe to “not use too much glass” by designing chaise longues, pillar lights...
