Glass Handbag with Shipibo Blue to Ruby Fade by Raiffe
By Raiffe
Located in Brooklyn, NY
I discovered this color combination after participating in a ritualistic ceremony native to the Shipibo people of Peru. Technically, it's silver blue and extra dense gold ruby but in actuality, it’s very hard to define. When light reflects off of the glass, a ghostly blue haze electrifies the surface. But, when the light shines through the glass, the calm deep ruby is most prominent. This is why the color in the photos seem to vary so much. Depending on the quality and direction of the light, the colors can vary dramatically. This in an edition of 5 pieces with the same color. Each one is unique and has slight differences in color and shape. All of our bags are totally functional and intended to be worn. They are made from extra thick glass to ensure strength and only weigh three to four pounds. They are all made with love and passion in Brooklyn, New York by me, Josh Raiffe
