Rudolph Henn was born in Olsbrücken, Germany, In 1901. Henn studied figural sculpture at the Academy of Applied Arts in Munich, counting Syrius Eberle and Heinrich Waderé among many other famous classmates. In 1907, he worked as a model maker for an ethnographic expedition to the Dutch East Indies. In 1908, after his studies, he was freelancing in Munich until 191, when he was drafted as a soldier. After World War I, Henn moved his workshop to Kaiserslautern and after his marriage; two of his daughters were born. In 1929, during the Great Depression, the family immigrated to the United States and settled in New York City. Since 1936, Henn was actively involved in the artistic design of the Harlem River Houses residential complex that developed under the Treasury Relief Art Project. There, he collaborated with Heinz Warnecke with Theodore Barbarossa, Erwin Springweiler and Richmond Barthé. In addition to large-scale monuments in public spaces, Henn continued to create smaller-scale bronze pieces. Many of his bronze works are of children, including fountain sculptures.

Art Deco Crucifix Depicting a Crowned Bronze Jesus On A Coromandel Wooden Cross
Located in Lisse, NL
Stylish and meaningful work of art. This Christian work of art dates from the 1920s. Over the centuries wall crucifixes have been made in all kinds of sizes and shapes, but the ones from the Art Deco Era seem to be the most distinctive in style. This 1920s wall crucifix is small in size, but the straight lined, geometrical cross, the stylised Gothic halo and the relatively straight lined body of Christ tell us that it was clearly from the European Art Deco era. In this case Belgian (it is marked Bruxelles just below the feet). Some Art Deco crucifixes...

Antique Icon like Gilt Bronze Mary and Child Jesus Plaque over a Holy Water Font
Located in Lisse, NL
Meaningful and perfectly hand-crafted antique church relic. This religious work of art dates from the earliest years of the 20th century and you could not wish for a better condition antique. This finest of holy water font plaques could not be in better condition, but that is also because it was all handcrafted out of the best materials only. Even the hand sawn, square nuts on the back are gilt. And the cross-like hook with the French Gothic fleur-de-lis ends with the ring on top (for easy mounting this gem to your wall) is another detail that shows us that no expense was spared when this antique was hand-crafted all those years ago. Whenever we find religious antiques of this quality and excellent condition, they usually were made for and used in either a church or a monastery (also, because that is where the budget was for the best quality pieces). The quality and the finish of this church relic really is among the best we have ever seen, but the quality of and the details in the sereen Mother Mary...

Bronze Gothic Wall Plaque by S. Norga Depicting Mother Mary in Cinquefoil Halo
By Sylvain Norga
Located in Lisse, NL
Unique antique bronze wall plaque by Belgian sculptor Sylvain Norga. This Gothic Revival work of religious art dates from the Art Deco era and it is a little bit of a rare specimen. For some reason, Sylvain Norga almost always created bronze wall plaques of Christ. In some cases he created bronze plaques with both Jesus and Mary in them, but the ones with only Mary are very hard to find. We find it extra special that this stunning and practical size Mother Mary sculpture...
