1970s Jersey Masters Metallic Knit Bell Sleeve Maxi Dress

About the Item

This is a really striking dress from around the late 60s, early 70s and is labelled "Lurex Acrylic, Made in the British Colony of Hong Kong". It has a tight, black metallic ribbed body and the sleeves have the most incredible balloon shape finished off with a ribbed cuff. It has a deep V neck and a gold ribbed band that sits around the waistline. The skirt is gently flared and floor length that has differing sized horizontal bands of multi-coloured knits. The dress is not lined but it has a pleasing weight to it. It fastens to the rear with the original zip. In fantastic vintage condition - no issues at all. Labelled a UK size 16 which bears no relation to modern sizing. It is very stretchy and can accommodate a range of sizes although best suited to up to a UK size 10 or US 6 in modern sizing. Although the dress is made of lurex, it is soft against the skin and not scratchy. Our model (5ft 11in / 163cm) is a UK 8-10 and this dress fit her well. MEASUREMENTS Bust - Min. - 24 in.
