Murray Arbeid Black Silk Taffeta Cocktail Dress
About the Item
The English designer, Murray Arbeid, was known for his evening wear and often dressed Princess Diana for high profile events. This silk taffeta strapless black dress has a decidedly youthful look with a bow at the bodice and three layers of ruffled tiers at the skirt. It zips and hooks at the back and is constructed with an eye for detail and fit including built in cups, boning at the side bodice and an inner grosgrain band for cinching the waist. The weight of the fabric and vertical channeled stitching at the bodice and upper skirt is reminiscent of vintage parachute construction giving the design a little edge to what would otherwise be a precious 'little black dress'. Retailed exclusively at Saks Fifth Avenue. Very good condition though the belt loops indicate that it would originally have had a sash or belt which is now missing in action.
SIZING & MEASUREMENTS
The size is not marked though the dress is an x-small fitting a U.S. size 0 - 2. The mannequin in the photographs is a size 4 and though the dress fit in the hips and hooked at the upper bodice, it was too small to entirely zip up as indicated in photograph 9.
