About the Item
Beautiful vintage early 90s JAMES PURCELL black silk velvet and lace strapless dress! Features some of the most beautiful black French lace I have ever seen on the overskirt! Black silk velvet bodice and pencil skirt, with Purcell's signature lace overskirt silhouette. Purcell pieces were sold in the most upscale of stores in the 1980s and 1990s. The prices to produce his pieces were incredibly high, and ultimatley, the designer could not keep up with the demand (dresses started at $2,000 in the 80s). Demi Couture workmanship, with an expert eye to detail. Interior bodice to hold everything in place, with hidden zipper up the back, with hook-and eye closure. Attached silk grosgrain ribbon at waist. Fully lined. Looks great with heels or boots, bare legged, or with stockings. Also goes fantastic with a cropped jacket (pictured vintage Louis Feraud jacket is also available in my 1stDibs Shop). In great condition. Made in France.
