Antique Japanese Export Meiji High Relief Dragon Carved Throne Chair.

About the Item

An impressive Imperial Meiji period Japanese throne chair which is finely and lavishly carved with dragons holding the eternal pearl in their mouths. The dragon represents prosperity and good luck as well as being a rain deity. The pearl is a symbol of wisdom, spiritual energy and power. The serpent bodies intertwine to form the back of the chair with one of the dragons showing its three toed claw. The seat has an intricate edge design. Winged bats form two front legs
