Antique Chinese Shanxi 2 - Drawer Cabinet

About the Item

Chinese Shanxi 2 - Drawer Cabinet,  a sturdy and broad traditional altar coffer cabinet from Shanxi Province. Constructed of Elm (Yumu) having a wood plank top, two large drawers with a repeating pattern of hexagonal honeycomb flower blossoms and chased brass center tab pulls, beneath the drawers is a hidden storage compartment fronted by three floral relie34f carved panels, the top extends beyond sides of the cabinet forming spandrels with decorative floral relief carving, and a lovely pierced carved apron beneath, depicting a pair of Lion Dogs and ribbons with a book on center, covered overall with the original finish of translucent red and brown lacquer accentuating the detailed carving.
