Kanto 2 Piece Tansu Chest

About the Item

Japanese two piece tansu clothing chest from the Meiji period (1868 –1912). This hails from the Kanto area which includes the greater Tokyo area. Made of solid kiri-wood and decorated with bold iron hardware. This wooden tansu is a fine example of the traditional mobile cabinets in Japan.
